The Old String Revival Tour

We are very happy to announce the first official Violinabox Tour!
During 2023-2024 the Violinabox will visit ten violin shops across the US. Each stop will last for two weeks and you are invited to visit the shop, to see, play and record a video with the violin. All styles of music and levels of accomplishment are welcome. The violin may also be available to make stage appearances, at the discretion of the host shop.
Self Sustaining
The cost of shipping the violin, and any necessary maintenance, is being donated by the host violin shops making this both a self-sustaining project, and an expression of the goodwill of the violin community.
Fundraising – You can help!
In addition to collecting a broad range of violin / fiddle music and giving us a glimpse of music communities across the country, the Violinabox Project is raising funds and in-kind donations for Luthiers Sans Frontiers-USA. You can help LSF-USA in their work supporting music programs in developing countries by donating your used Violin, Viola, Cello and Bass Strings. Usable strings may give years more service when they go directly to these music programs. Un-usable strings will go to the D’Addario String Company for recycling.
Of course LSF-USA also welcomes cash donations to support their invaluable work. You can donate at the host violin shops and also via the Luthiers Sans Frontiers-USA website
Schedule
The Violinabox has already been at The Violin Shop in Nashville, TN, and is currently on its way to Metzler Violins in Los Angeles, CA. The last stop on the US tour is Reed-Yeboah Violins in New York. From there the violin will leave for another continent and a whole new range of sights and sounds. The latest video recordings are being collected on our Facebook page
